Every 5 years the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) develops a State Water Plan based upon the input from 16 regional water planning groups. These regional planning groups each attempt to balance the current water supply with future water demands. Planning group members are made up of roughly 20 members who represent a diversity of interests such as agriculture, industry, environmental, business, municipalities, and water districts.

Regional water planning meetings are usually held 3-4 times per year and are open to the public. I encourage you to find out which Regional Planning Group includes your county, and attend a future meeting to learn more about the water planning process. A link to a map of Regional Water Planning Groups and meeting schedule is located under 'Important Links' to the left of the blog.
