Glover & Childers Get a Behind-the-Scenes Look at Groundwater Conservation District Field Work

Sehrsha Glover and Myla Childers (Erath County) recently had the opportunity to tag along with staff of Middle Trininty Groundwater Conservation District. They spent hours with staff as they checked out observation wells, tested water depth, and determined whether any needed to be closed off.

As you know, many of our Program sponsors are groundwater conservation district who have staff dedicated to keeping records of well depth and condition across there service area. Much of this information is then made available to the public through interactive on-line maps.

I would strongly encourage you to contact your groundwater conservation district to see if you might be able to ride along and observe what they do day to day. My experience has been is that they are more than welcoming to young people who take a genuine interesting in what they do. You will find they job is very interesting and full of information you didn't already know!

Kunz Welcomes New County Extension Agent with 4-H Water Ambassador Story

Rowdy Kunz (Colorado Co.) recently met with Laramie Neumann, the new Colorado County AgriLife Extension agent. He set up a very impressive poster presentation, told her about his summer tour experience, and answered questions she had about the trip.

Your county agent is often going in a million different directions and answering to many different interest groups and clientele. Making a concerted effort to fill him/her in on your work and role as water ambassadors is a great way to get your name out there and set the stage for future collaborations! Great job Rowdy!

Rowdy Kunz discusses his summer 4-H2O Leadership Academy experience with new Colorado Co. Ext. Agent.
